My journey in the world of whisky...

First let me introduce myself!

My name is Ronald de Boer and I am from the Netherlands!

Yes, it's that little piece of land to the west of Germany...

I am 19 years old. (18 is the legal drinking age in the Netherlands)

My hobbies, next to whisky are: computers, gaming and music.

I'm also a pretty big movie and series fan haha.

That's it, I guess...

Now, let me tell you a little story about how my journey began.... a long, long time ago...

(about 1 year) I started my journey with a small bottle of Jack Daniels, Famous Grouse and Johnny Walker Red, I know it's not the best but it got me excited for more....

After a little while I jumped the gun and bought my first 'proper' whisky, a Johnny Walker Gold Label Reserve.

I know it's a blend but I loved it.

Not long after that I bought Jack Daniels Single Barrel and it was magical....

I loved everything about it but it had a hint to it that I didn't really like...

It was the paint thinner note that a lot of people find in Jack.

In the meantime I wanted to know what was out there and what was good, so I started to do research and I found a lot of awesome people who reviewed whisky on YouTube.

I had no idea this was a thing....

I loved the videos and I started to watch a lot of them, and I mean a lot hahahaha.

In a short amount of time is knew the basics and what to look out for and I came to the discovery that there is so much more to whisky then meets the eye.

I started to collect and taste more and I only got more hyped about everything this world has to offer.

I knew it there and then, I am in love....

In 2010 I started my first YouTube channel, it wasn't whisky related of course hahaha.

It was a channel about LEGO etc.

After a couple years, around 2013/14 I started to gain interest in gaming and computers and I started a gaming channel.

I loved it and I made a lot of videos with friends and grew a pretty big community.

I made my videos in my native language, Dutch.

After a couple years the whole Dutch YouTube scene changed and with it its viewers and it became less and less fun.

There was a lot of hate and people wanted a lot of edits in the videos.

They didn't want easy to watch videos that were relaxing, they wanted videos who would tingle their senses and trigger them.

That wasn't and isn't my style so in the beginning of 2017 I decided to stop with the channel.

It wasn't worth the effort and energy I invested in it anymore.

A couple months before quitting I decided to start a whisky channel and I was interested in where it would go.

I had seen that the community is a lot more friendly and mature.

I didn't get a lot of reactions from people but I loved making the video's so I decided that Bear's Blend would become my new thing.

At this moment in time I still love gaming etc. but whisky has taking a big place in my life and my heart, I am in a lot of different community's and it's so much fun, I recommend it to everyone!

I made this website because I want to share my knowledge and my adventure.

I hope you want to be part of it!
