Glencadam 21

Intro:

This is one of the oldest whiskies from the core range of Glencadam. It is also one of the best I have ever had....

Price: around 120 €/$/£

Not Coloured - Non Chill Filtered

46& ABV (alcohol by volume)

Nose:

When you let it sit for about 30 minutes the nose opens up. You get a amazing rich fruitiness combined with wood and barrel notes, maltiness is also present in the back.

Tropical fruits with spices.

Mango, papaja, kiwi, hint of pinapple.

I get some nutmeg with a tiny little hint of cinnamon. This is one of the best noses I have ever had.

I could nose this for hours.

I don't think there are words invented to describe the richness and complexity that this nose offers.

Palate:

From the start, you get that amazing fruitiness with spices and wood. The mouthfeel is nice and oily.

Some citrus with honey starts to make its way in.

After a little while something amazing comes up. It is like a dry, spicy tropical fruit jelly, but not the one you get from a rum finished whisky.

It is so friendly and gentle.

I can have this in my mouth for one whole minute and it is still developing....

Finish/aftertaste

The aftertaste and finish is dry. I get a lovely honeyed maltiness with a little deep dark chocolate.

I goes on for hours.

Summary:

I can not decribe this whisky good enough.

It is something spectacular

From the nose to the finish it keeps on going and it keeps developing into such an amazing spectrum of notes and flavours

If you have the budget for this whisky, you NEED to get it.
