Glengoyne 12

Intro:

This 12 year old might be the most well known whisky from Glengoyne.

It is rich mixture due to the sherry and firt fill bourbon casks. Glengoyne 12 offers something for every whisky drinker.

Price: around 35 €/$/£

Not Coloured - Chill Filtered

43% ABV (alochol by volume)

Nose:

On the nose you immediately notice the bourbon and sherry with the sweetness.

It is a really rounded nose with different layers of complexity.

On top you get zesty honeydew melon with a little malt.

The smell of spices with bicuits and cookies are close behind that.

Sherry fruits are also present, really lovely mix of dark and light fruits.

The typical bourbon notes are also there, honey, vanilla etc.

On the nose I get the type of feeling when you smell a backery, not the fresh pies haha but more the dough and the flour etc.

In the back is a hint of a tropical fruitiness, pineapple, mango and maybe some banana bread.

Palate:

Really nice thick oily mouthfeel that covers everything.

On the arrival you get that nice bourbon smoothness and sweetness filled with character.

There also is the big chocolate note.

The palate is filled with so much different notes, bourbon, sherry, chocolate, dried fruits, juicy fruits, citrus, plum, malt, etc.

I could go on for a long time but it is better to just try it yourself.

The spices develop the whole time from arrival to finish.

Finish/Aftertaste:

To be honest the finish is a bit short, it also would be amazing if the aftertaste would stay a little longer.

During the finish and aftertaste there is more malt with chocolate and vanilla.

Water:

In my eyes it does not need water.

Summary:

In short, this is a great scotch for an even better price.

If you can get your hands on it you should not let it slip!
